We are blessed to have a leadership team, which is truly dedicated to Christ. This team seeks to serve God, and His people, while doing life and ministry with those in this faith family, and our community. They are disciples of Christ who make disciples. They have a passion to know Christ and to make Him know.
Pastor Kevin Britton
Senior Pastor
I have served Kathleen Baptist, since June 2024, as the Senior Pastor. I am responsible for the overall ministry and operation of KBC. I am grateful to have wonderful staff and pastoral partners to help lead the various aspects of Kathleen Baptist Church and reach the Kathleen/Lakeland area.
I grew up in Irving, Texas where my parents raised me in a home that honored Christ and modeled healthy Christian living. They served our church and community in numerous ways, utilizing their spiritual gifts and skills. I professed faith in Jesus at 9 years old. God continues transforming and equipping me to participate in His redemptive work. I affirmed a call to vocational ministry at age 17 and God provides ongoing opportunities to serve in many ways, including children’s, youth, and pastoral ministry. I am grateful for God’s calling and equipping to serve. I am a hometown fan (Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, Stars) who roots for the home team in good times and bad (more bad than good).
Krista and I have been married since August 1993 and enjoy two wonderful adult children (Logan and Kaitlyn) who profess faith in Christ and follow Him in dynamic ways. We have one dog, Chewbacca, who loves short walks and hanging with the family. Our family enjoys adventures together, competitive games, and a good movie. We look forward to discovering the area, enjoying the region, and growing in our Lakeland Love.
Dr. Carlos De Freitas
Pastor to Children and Families
Pastor Carlos De Freitas serves as the Kids Pastor at our church, where he is passionate about helping children discover who Jesus is and build a faith that lasts a lifetime. He believes that children's ministry is much more than childcare—it's discipleship, leadership development, and partnering with families to raise the next generation of Christ-followers.
Carlos brings energy, creativity, and a genuine love for kids to everything he does, whether he's teaching a Bible lesson, organizing an event, or engaging in an epic game with the children. His heart is to create a safe, fun, and Christ-centered environment where every child feels loved, valued, and excited to learn about God.
When he's not serving in ministry, you'll likely find him spending time with his family, exploring new adventures, or looking for creative ways to make the Bible come alive for kids.
Pastor Matt Grieves
Student Pastor
Matt has served as the Minister to Youth and College & Career at KBC since 2016. Matt gave his life to Jesus Christ while attending Florida Southern College, where he studied Pre-Med and competed on the cross-country team. Since then, he has been passionate about helping others become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Following college, he earned a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
For more than 25 years, Matt and his wife Kim have served side by side in ministry, leading retreats, outreach events, discipleship opportunities, and mission experiences. Together, they are passionate about helping students and families grow in their relationship with Christ and creating opportunities for people to connect, serve, and deepen their faith. Matt also serves as the Associational Youth Minister for the Central Florida Baptist Association, where he helps coordinate ministry opportunities and events for churches and students throughout the region.
Matt and Kim have three amazing sons, Caleb, Timothy, and Micah, and are grateful for the privilege of serving the Lord together as a family.
Pastor Nathaniel Miller
Music Pastor
I have served Kathleen Baptist Church as the Music Pastor since November 2021. I am responsible for the music portion of service, the AVL needs of the church, as well as creative projects. I have loved working with this great staff here at KBC and serving alongside this praise team and AVL team!
I was born and raised in Palmetto, FL, raised in a Christian home and came to know Christ at youth camp in middle school. I went through a difficult season of life in high school, but out of that I felt the calling to music ministry. I went to college to focus on that calling and began vocational ministry in 2017 where I served bi-vocationally as the pastor of music and children. I am an alum of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Heidi and I are high school sweethearts and have been married since 2015. We have been in the Lakeland area since we got married. We have three boys, Jedidiah, Marshall John, and Silas. Our family enjoys frequent trips to Lego Land, putting together LEGO, and playing with our dog Bingo. Stop by my office if you ever want to talk worship, music, hunting, superheroes, or StarWars (especially if you want to hear about the time I got a perfect score on StarWars trivia on a cruise ship)! Our family loves living where we serve and desire to love and serve our church well and proclaim what Christ has done in our life.
